Pickleball Sponsorship: What to Actually Put Your Logo On

A ranked list of what carries a sponsor logo well at a pickleball tournament, judged on cost per keep rather than cost per unit, plus what to skip.

Sponsoring a pickleball tournament usually gets you a banner, a logo on a schedule nobody keeps, and a mention over a speaker system. Then the event ends, the banner goes in a storage cupboard, and the only lasting record is a photo. The sponsors who get value out of these events spend the same money on things players carry home.

The question worth asking

Not what does it cost per unit, but what does it cost per keep. A banner costs little and is kept by nobody. A paddle costs more and is kept for years, seen by everyone that player plays with, and photographed without you asking. Run the numbers that way and the ranking below stops being controversial.

What carries a logo well, ranked

1. Paddles

The highest keep rate in the sport, and the only item where your brand is literally in the player's hand every point. Best used for winners, finalists and VIPs rather than every entrant, because the cost only makes sense when the recipient values it. Custom paddles in tournament grade builds, not novelty ones, or the effect reverses.

2. Balls

The best value on this list by some distance. Printed balls are a little over a dollar, they are used by everyone in every match, and they stay in circulation at the club long after the event. If you sponsor one thing, sponsor the balls.

3. Paddle covers

Cheap, large printable surface, and they live on the paddle permanently. Covers are the most underrated sponsorship item in the sport, because the branding travels to every future session rather than sitting at one event.

4. Overgrips

Low cost, genuinely consumable, and players actually need them. Your logo goes on the finishing tape. A bag of these at registration gets used rather than binned.

5. Edge tape

Custom edge tape is a small line item that cross sells with paddles and puts a colour or pattern on the paddle rim. Niche, but memorable at a club that adopts it.

6. Sunglasses

Outdoor events only, and then they are excellent. Branded frames get worn immediately rather than packed, which is the whole test.

7. Bags

Expensive per unit, so reserve them for the top prize or headline sponsorship. A real court bag carries your mark to every session for years. A cheap drawstring bag does the opposite and reads as an afterthought.

8. The net and court presence

A net system with your logo stays up at the venue after the tournament ends, which makes it the rare on site item that keeps earning. Better value than a banner for similar money.

What to skip

Thin drawstring bags, branded pens, generic totes, and anything that only exists for the duration of the event. Also skip putting your logo on the trophy. People photograph trophies, they do not keep sponsor logos on them fondly.

Getting the artwork right

Send vector artwork if you have it. One mark, high contrast against whatever it is going on, and resist adding a tagline. Small and clean survives on a paddle face far better than large and busy, and it is the difference between gear a player keeps and gear that looks like an advert they are carrying.

We mock up your artwork on the actual item before anything prints, free, so you can see how it sits rather than imagining it.

Lead times

Standard production is about four to six weeks after proof approval, so start six to eight weeks before the event. Balls and grips move faster than paddles and bags. If your date is tight, say so at the first conversation and we will tell you honestly what still fits.

Clubs and event spaces running these regularly should look at our partner program, which covers repeat events without holding inventory.
