Counted from the public list

The pickleball paddle brand index

Every brand with a paddle on the USA Pickleball approved list, how many models each one holds, when it first appeared and when it last put a paddle through. We built it because the public list answers none of those questions, and because the shape of it is the clearest picture anyone has of how many paddle brands actually exist.

1,378brands on the approved list
5,291approved models between them
88brands appearing for the first time this year
57%have not had a paddle approved in two years

New brands arriving each year

A brand counts in the year of its earliest approval still on the list. This is the entry rate: how many new names arrive on the list each year.

Striped bar is a part year. Withdrawn models leave the list, so the earliest years understate slightly; the effect works against the recent decline rather than creating it.

Arrived in the last 90 days

Brands whose first approval landed inside the last quarter. This is the entry rate as it happens, and it is the part of the list that moves between counts.

Search the index

Type a brand to find it, or sort by any column. First approval is the earliest date still showing on the list for that brand, so it is a floor rather than a founding date.

Using this data

Take it. If you are writing about how many paddle brands there are, how fast new ones arrive, or how concentrated the category is, quote these numbers or republish the CSV. All we ask is a credit and a link back to this page so readers can check the count for themselves.

How this is built, and what it cannot tell you

We read the USA Pickleball approved paddle list end to end, every page of it, and record the brand, model and the list’s own Added date for each entry. Brand rows here are grouped from those entries. Nothing is sampled, modelled or estimated.

Four limits, stated plainly

  • First approval is a floor. Delisted and withdrawn models are simply absent from the list, so a brand that has been around for a decade can show a recent first date.
  • Brand names are as the list spells them. Where one company files under two names, both appear. Merging them would be our judgement, not the source’s.
  • Approved is not the same as selling. A brand on this list may never have shipped a paddle, and plenty of paddles sell without ever being certified.
  • USA Pickleball is not the only approval. A brand certifying elsewhere will not appear here at all. The routes and what each one costs are in the certification cost guide.
